I am tired of assimilating things to other things,

I hardly see things as they are, as it is.

 

The Jasmine flower _______ my garden too, is tired,

someone said she looked like a cotton field.

So, she stretched her limbs, tearing her fibers.

 

I used to compare death,

to a dreaded darkness we lost our keys in,

to a dream we can't awake _______,

to the hollow _______ an idol we debase ourselves to...

Until the day my father

hit the floor and died.

Then, death became death,

just death.

 

I am innocent of similes.

I compared myself _______ an ear of wheat and got trapped in it,

Darwin has since been staring at his table.

 

I am innocent of poetry.
