Studies have shown that social media use is associated with lower self-esteem, body dissatisfaction, and comparison with others. Social media influencers often promote an unrealistic standard of beauty that can impact the way young people view themselves. It can also be a breeding ground for cyberbullying and other negative social interactions. We see many influencers and other users checking the engagement on their last post which is not healthy. Not receiving the amount of praise you thought would start to negatively impact people. It is important for young people to be aware of the impact social media can have on their self-esteem and to make healthy choices about their social media use.

The effects of COVID-19 were not considered in current results

 

The increase in the life expectancy at birth in Brazil in 2021 was 76.8 years—up two months and 26 days from the previous year (76.6 years). According to the government’s statistics agency IBGE, however, the age was estimated as though the country had not been impacted by COVID-19.
