The perfectionism trap
We’re holding ourselves to impossible standards, no matter the circumstances.
According to psychoanalyst Josh Cohen, perfectionism is a “fundamentally childish attitude”, ultimately holding many of us back from enjoying our lives. Moreover, with accelerating competition in the job market and housing becoming increasingly insecure, many of us are spreading ourselves hopelessly thin to gain a hopeless advantage.
The arrival of the pandemic saw a reassessment of circumstances and a re-evaluation of priorities for many. But, old habits die hard, and this has often been short-lived. Here, Cohen urges us to hold on to this shift in perspective and find ways to enjoy ourselves more.

The Show Must Go On
Empty spaces, what are we living for?
Abandoned places, I guess we know the score, on
and on
Does anybody know what we are looking for?
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line
Does anybody want to take it anymore?
The show must go on
The show must go on,
Inside my heart is breaking
My makeup may be flaking
But my smile, still, stays on.

cotland Just Showed How Easy It Is To End ‘Period Poverty’
Scotland has become the first country in the world to legally enshrine the right to free period products, in a vital step toward ending “period poverty.” The Period Products Act, which came into force today after Scotland’s parliament unanimously approved the law in 2020, compels local governments and educational institutions to provide products to anyone who needs them.
Activists tell TIME that by enabling women, girls and people who menstruate to manage their periods healthily and effectively, the law both protects a fundamental human right and removes societal stigma.
In many poor countries, it’s estimated that half of all women and girls are sometimes forced to use items like rags, grass and paper instead of menstrual pads and tampons. The issue is not just confined to poor countries—two-thirds of the 16.9 million low-income women in the U.S. could not afford menstrual products in the past year.
Ultimately, it’s about normalizing an experience that around half of the world’s population will go through at some point in their lives, and opening up a conversation. “It’s not just about period poverty, it’s about period dignity,” says Freedom4Girls’ Leslie.
